Jan. 20, 2011 - Dr. Robert Cross recognized for service to community agencies
Dr. Robert Cross, a world-renowned psychologist in the field of adolescent and adult mental health will be recognized by Brevard Family Partnership for over five years of volunteer service to the children and families served by Brevard County’s lead child welfare agency. The recognition will take place during BFP’s January board of directors’ meeting on Thursday, January 28.

Brevard CARES recently added several new staff members. The agency provides front-end child abuse prevention services to Brevard County children and families through its innovative Wraparound Family Team Conferencing model. The additions will allow Brevard CARES to service more families that are experiencing stressors that may lead to child abuse.

Local artists from Brevard County will be putting their inspirations and talents to good use, designing one-of-a-kind decorative chairs that will be auctioned off during “Chairs for C.A.R.E.S.” an event to benefit Brevard C.A.R.E.S. on Saturday, November 13 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at The Cocoa Elks Lodge – 315 Florida Ave. in Cocoa Village.

With the goal of reducing the number of infant deaths that occur from unsafe sleeping practices, Brevard C.A.R.E.S. recently became a Cribs for Kids chapter; the first in Brevard County. Program includes community outreach, education, and providing Pack n' Play portable cribs to families and caregivers of babies and young children.

Brevard Family Partnership, Brevard County’s lead child welfare agency has achieved a milestone, marking its fifth anniversary of protecting children and strengthening families. On January 30, 2005, the State of Florida Department of Children and Families initiated its first contract with what was then Community Based Care of Brevard.
